The aim of the present study was comparing alexithymia, mental health and academic performance of the female students in divorce and non-divorced families in Behbahan. The population of this study consisted of female students of divorce and non-divorce families in Behbahan, controlling for the effect of their socio-economic status. Out of this population a sample of 30 high school students in divorced and 30 in non-divorced families was selected randomly. The instruments used in this study were the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and the grade point average of the students in the school year of 1390-91. MANCOVA test was also used for analyzing the data. The results of MANCOVA revealed that there was a significant difference between alexithymia of the divorced and non-divorced families. The alexithymia of the divorced families was more than that of non-divorced families, and the mental health of the divorced families was less than that of non-divorced families. Also academic performance of the divorced families was less than that of non-divorced families.
