The main purpose of this study was to design, construct and examine a constructivism teaching model for assisting Iranian university students to learn better. Firstly, constructivist principles of learning and teaching were discussed and then, based on the principles a teaching model has been developed. The model emphasized both higher order thinking and affective aspect of learning. Basic components of this model were: problem based learning, co-learning and computer use.
For testing the developed model a quasi-experiments study was undertaken. Although the results show no significant difference between the two groups in terms of higher cognitive skills and attitude, there was a significant correlation between levels of students’ activity and higher order thinking in experimental group.
