The relationship between knowledge of life skills and belief in the future in students: the mediating role of achievement motivation

Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between knowledge of life skills and belief in the future in students with the mediating role of motivation for progress. This research was done quantitatively, with the correlation method and using the structural equation method. The statistical population of the research was all the students of the humanities and engineering faculties of Kashan University in the academic year 1401-1402, of which 319 people (136 girls, 183 boys) were selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling and were asked to fill in the questionnaire. Golzari's life skills, Lerner's belief in the future, and Hermans' motivation to progress answered. The analysis of the findings showed that the conceptual model of the research has a good fit. The findings indicate that there is a positive and meaningful relationship between life skills and belief in the future, in addition, there is a positive relationship between life skills and motivation to progress, and life skills, through the mediation of motivation to progress, can significantly increase belief in the future. explain Also, there is a positive and significant relationship between belief in the future and motivation to progress. The results show that paying attention to life skills and designing and implementing educational interventions to raise the level of life skills can lead to an increase in students' motivation to progress and believe in the future.
