If school is where one learns, then life is the biggest school of all. In Dewey's view one learns through living in order to live, and school is the life itself, not a place to get ready for life. The goal of this literature review has been to help with the identification of necessary changes within the educational system and especially in school settings. To this end, it is necessary to point out that schools need to pay attention to the needs, individual differences, and interests of the learners. The educational content should be selected in such a way that would help with the development of social skills, problem solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking skills. The atmosphere should be happy and constructive wherein active learning and teaching methods are used and teachers are more of a guide than a class manager.
