The Adaptation and Standardizationof Big Five Personality Questionnaire for Children (BFQ-C) in High School Students

Abstract

The present study aimed at investigating the psychometric properties of Big Five Personality Questionnaire for Children (BFQ-C) in high school students of Mako. This is a descriptive- analytical research in which all high school students of Makucity in the educational year2012-2013 were considered the statistical population. Out of this population 427 students were selected via cluster random sampling. The research data was collected using Big Five Questionnaire for Children (BFQ-C) and Eysenck Personality Questionaire (EPQ). The data was statistically analyzed using independent samples t-test, Cronbachalpha coefficient, and Pierson correlation. The results indicated that there was a positive relationship betweenEysenckneuroticisms and emotional instability factor. Eysenck extroversion had positive relationship with energy and openness factor. EysenkPsychotism had positive relationship with consciousness and agreeableness factors. The reliability of factors was assessed using Cronbach alpha and it turned to be 0.74for emotional instability factor,0.78 for consciousness, 0.65 for energy/extraversion,0.72for agreeableness, and0.72for intellect/openness. Test-retest reliability in 30 individuals sample for 2 weeksperiodwas obtained for the factors emotional/instability (0.82),consciousness (0.61), energy/extraversion (0.67), agreeableness (0.68), intellect /openness (0.58). Iranian norms of BFQ-C using Z & T standard scores were also calculated.
