The Effect of School Safety/Belonging on Resilience: Problem Solving and Self Esteem as Mediating Factors

Abstract

.This study investigated the effects of school safety on resilience through the mediating role of problem solving and self-esteem via structural equation modeling. The population of the study was all the students from the public high schools of Baharestan region in Tehran. Out of this population, 386 individuals were selected through cluster random sampling as the sample of the study. They responded to a questionnaire which was designed based on a conceptual model. A few notable results revealed thatthere was a positive and indirecteffect of school safetyon resilience and a positiveand direct effect ofproblem solving and self-esteem on resilience.In sum, the conceptual model had a good fit with the collected data which shows the roleof the important factors such as school safety, problem solving and self-esteem onresilience.
