Abstract

withADHD. Asample ofmothers of47 students(29boys and18 girls) whoreferred to psychiatricclinicof Dr. RonaghinKaraj cityin the year 2011was selected. The instruments used to collect the data were the short version of NEO PersonalityInventoryand Alabama Parenting Questionnaire. Data was analyzed using ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed a positive relationship between neuroticism and unstable parenting style that was based on maternal physical punishment. Maternaldeontology was also positively associatedwithpositiveparentingpractices andinvolvement, andnegatively associatedwithparenting stylewithcorporal punishmentandpoorsupervision. Component of desirability alsohada significantpositive relationship with parentingpractices. Other aspects ofpersonalitybased onphysical punishment did not have a significant relationship withmothers'parenting style.Therefore, it can beconcluded that thecharacteristicsof mothers influencetheirparentingpracticesand behavior.
