A study of Current and Optimal Status of Internationalization in the University of Tehran from Specialists View

Abstract

The current research seeks to study the current and ideal international status of Tehran University from a scientific point of view. Statistical sample population of this study is chosen from among the professionals in the area of internationalization consisting of forty eight experts from Tehran University international (including the dean of the university, international counselor of university of Tehran faculties and the co-coordinator in the Tehran University for international affairs). Considering the functional purpose and the data collection methods, this study is of descriptive and ongoing kind. Descriptive (frequency, percentage, average) and deductive(one variable T-test, chi square, freedman, and vilcacson tests)in statistical methods were used in order to analyze the data. Results of the present study shows that the international status of Tehran university is in a fairly optimal level. The results of the study around the present condition of Tehran university activities of internationalization shows that the relevant factors of cognizance, commitment, planning, programme-making, reinforcing, reviewing is evaluated being at a fairly ideal level. With regard to the respondents’ opinions the results of the study show that the main obstacle facing the internationalization of the University of Tehran is the shortage of financial resources. The results of the study show that there is a meaningful gap between present and ideal condition of university of Tehran’s internationalization process.
