Abstract

Objectives: The present study explored the role of religious orientations to predict identity styles. In the past decades identity style has been one of the basic discussion in social and personality psychology. Recently, religious orientation was converted to the core perspective in religious psychology. Based On this, this study has been examined the role of religious orientations in predict of identity styles.
Method: The sample included 195 female and male students of Shiraz University to whom the Religious orientation scale, Quest orientation scale, and Identity style scale were given. Data were analyzed using inter multiple regression method.
Results: The results showed that internal and quest orientation can positively predict informational identity style. Internal orientation positively and quest orientation negatively predict normative style. Also, quest orientation can negatively predict diffuse/ avoidant style.
Conclusion: Multiple regression analysis indicated that religious orientations can predict identity styles.
