Abstract

Emotional intelligence plays an important role in all aspects of one's life as it is positively related to one's health, life satisfaction, efficiency, and success, among others. Thus, to improve emotional intelligence is to improve all these aspects. A sample of junior high students (103 girls and 124 boys) were selected and divided into two groups, one of which was then put through a specially designed course in which students learned emotional management skills. The emotional intelligence of all students was measured consequently and compared. Results show that the EQ of the experimental group was significantly improved following the course. The effectiveness of the program seems to have been due to the improvements occurring in the self awareness and relationship management skills.
